Pair of terrestrial and celestial parquet globes. The sphere - Lot 241
Pair of terrestrial and celestial parquet globes. The spheres are printed in color with twenty-four spindles and signed by Smith & Son at 63, Charing Cross, London. Engraved brass meridian ring. Mahogany tripod stand with casters, a compass attached to the crotch. Circa 1870. Height 115 - Diameter of globes 46 - Diameter H.T. 60 cm Minor wear and tear, chamci varnish, missing mahogany spandrels. The varnish covering the two spheres makes it very difficult to read the two globes, so we had two tests carried out, reproduced in medallions, revealing the perfectly well-preserved decoration under the chanci.
