BURY (T. T.). Coloured views on the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, with plates of the coaches, machines, etc.. With descriptive particulars serving as a guide to travellers on the Railway. London, Ackermann, 1831. In-4, half calf, ornate spine, corners, red maroq. t.p. in center of 1st plate, jasp. tr. (Contemporary binding). Extremely rare work, especially complete: title, 8 pp. text and 13 engraved hors texte plates colored at the time, including a technical plate and 12 very attractive views, all with railroads and embellished with characters, animals, boats, cars... The present copy, although belonging to the first edition (1831), contains the two extra folded plates (double the size of the book) published after the album and separately; they are numbered I and II and depict lines of wagons coupled to a locomotive in a landscape. In the first plate, the wagons are occupied by passengers, while in the second, figures are busy loading goods or animals. Another large plate (folio-sized, folded in the middle) not belonging to this work has been added, also colored at the time and not numbered, engraved in aqua by S. G.
