BUHOT (Félix). Autograph correspondence (56 letters) address - Lot 55
BUHOT (Félix). Autograph correspondence (56 letters) addressed to Alidor Delzant (1890-1897). In one vol. in-8, contemporary silk paperback. Most curious and interesting correspondence, often critical (of Gauguin and Pissarro). Buhot greatly admires Whistler and Renoir: "Ask Mr. Durand-Ruel to show you the Renoir landscapes he showed Mr. Bracquemond and me yesterday. It was a revelation. It's exquisite, marvelous, dreamy, tender and colorful. He is invited to the Têtes de Bois dinner in honor of Odilon Redon, "I would have liked to hear Stéphane Mallarmé, who will undoubtedly be there. on his return from London, he studied lithographic processes and expressed his admiration for G. Rodenbach, whom he would like to meet. In the last letter-card (Jan. 17, 1897), he describes himself as unwell and "a little wild" (he died on March 26, 1898). Most of these letters are accompanied by a stamped envelope, and 4 of them are embellished with original drawings or sketches, in pen, wash or watercolor (this remarkable one is reminiscent of V. Hugo's drawings).
