Philippe Mélanchthon is the French form of this humanist scholar, philosopher and German Protestant reformer, which is an approximate interpretation of his German surname Philipp Schwarzert. Doctor of theology, university professor, disciple of Martin Luther, Melanchthon is best known for having written the Augsburg Confession in 1530. He is also the creator of the term psychology, forged from the Greek. Friedrich Hagenauer was born around 1490-1500 in Strasbourg and died after 1546. He was a sculptor-portraitist and one of the most productive medalists of the German Renaissance.
