Audience scene surrounded by an army, North India, probably Rajasthan, 18th century and Iran, 19th century. Gouache and gold on album page mounted on the back of a Persian manuscript folio and depicting in the center an audience scene, the rajput prince enthroned under a parasol, an army behind a hill in the background, the rest of the army in the foreground bordering a river with five figures. Around, gold-painted margins of quadrupeds amidst flowers and trees, birds flying in a sky punctuated by tchi clouds. Initials PL of the collection at the bottom left. The reverse, folio of a Persian manuscript of the Shahnameh of 20 lines of text per page in Persian nasta'liq in black ink spread over four columns interrupted by a cartouche illuminated in gold and polychrome giving a title in reserve on a gold background with a semis of flowers. Dim. folio 35,9 x 24 cm ; dim. painting : 20,1 x 11,4 cm ; dim. text area : 20,4 x 12,3 cm Stains, tears, restoration, folds, silver oxidation. In a window cardboard.
