VILLIERS DE L'ISLE-ADAM. Three cruel tales. Wood engravings by Laboureur. A Paris, aux dépens de la Société de la Gravure sur Bois originale, 1927. In-8, black box on first board, volume scrolled in cold mosaic in cream maroq. with purple maroq. listel running obliquely across the board, title in gilt or palladium lettering and gold discs on both boards, moiré silk endpapers with purple highlights, trimmed boards, cons. cover, folder and slipcase (Rose Adler).
ISSUE OF 160 COPIES, on Rives wove paper, numbered, this one in the name of M. Jacques André, illustrated by Jean-Emile Laboureur with nine original woodcuts in black and gold or black and silver (S.L. II 748).
This innovative illustration was produced under the direction of Laboureur and collector Jacques André.
Enriched with a very fine original full-page watercolor by Laboureur, serving as frontispiece and dedicated to M. Jacques André, three color-enhanced fumés and a double suite of woodcuts, one on vellum in black, the other on Japon mince, black and gold proofs and a l.a.s. from the artist.
VERY FINE MOSAIC DOUBLE BINDING BY ROSE ADLER, CONTEMPORARY WITH THE BOOK.
