EDITION TOTALE A 295 EXEMPLAIRES, this one no. 265, 1 of 275 numbered on Montval, signed by the artist on the colophon. Illustrated with 105 original black hors-texte etchings by Marc Chagall. Attached are 3 receipts, signed by Chagall, attesting to the transfer of reproduction and publishing rights for 17 plates of the work to Vollard, dated 1932. After the war, the project was taken over by Tériade, who published one of the most important artist's books of the 20th century.
