In-4, maroq. citron, cold-stamped title on spine, brown suede lining and endpapers, gilt on witnesses, cover and spine cons. slipcase with folder (G. Cretté, succr. de Marius Michel). Very fine book illustrated with 35 original drypoints by the painter-engraver J.-L. Boussingault, whose masterpiece of illustration this is. VERY RARE: Edition of 55 copies (25 of which are said to have been destroyed in a flood) all on Hollande Van Gelder paper, numbered; this one hors commerce (number K) offered by the artist to Dunoyer de Segonzac, with signed dedication: "A mon vieux André, en souvenir de notre vieille affection", closing the extremely rare suite of 24 unpublished pieces, printed separately, stamped and numbered (12/13), enriched with four original graphite drawings (3 signed or stamped) and 6 l.a.s., one with sketch, addressed to his friend Segonzac. One of the rarest modern illustrated books, in exceptional condition and perfectly bound by G. Cretté. Provenance: - Bibliothèque A. Dunoyer de Segonzac (Paris sale, October 29, 1976, no. 121).
