In-4, (4) ff. + XVI + 231 pp. + (2) ff. morocco, 5-ribbed spine, first cover decorated with foliage and pine cones in relief, flown over by a stork carrying a banner with Ph. Burty's motto "Fidèle et libre" ("Faithful and free"), in the lower left-hand corner of the subject the figure of Ph. Burty in interwoven letters, wide border in interior maroq. framed by 4 gold fillets, lining and endpapers in moire decorated with flowers and foliage, double endpapers, gilt on witnesses, ill. covers and spine cons, case (Marius Michel).
Copy on "papier des Vosges à la forme", OFFERED BY THE AUTHOR TO M. PHILIPPE BURTY, with a watercolor by the author, with the motto and figure of Ph. Burty and a signed dedication, dated May 1888.
