MONNIER (Henry). Rencontres parisiennes. Macédoine pittoresque P., Gihaut (lithogr. by Senefelder), s.d. (1827). Pet. in-4 oblong, publisher's cart. ORIGINAL EDITION. Handsome album consisting of an illustrated title and 19 lithographs colored at the time and with large margins. Extremely rare. Monnier, who was destined to become a notary, left the firm he was working for to join Girodet's studio. He became interested in caricature and quickly developed his improvisational and observational skills. His drawings became fashionable from 1825 onwards. Monnier was also a famous actor, and showed as much originality with his characters on the stage as with his caricatures.
