In-12, black morocco, five-ribbed spine framed with cold-stamped thread, decorated paper endpapers framed with gold thread, gilt on witnesses, cons. cover, slipcase (Alix). Very rare second state first edition, the same as the 1869 edition, only the titles and faux-titres have been changed. We know that it was only after 1920 that this masterpiece was given its rightful place by by writers of the Surrealist movement. (Inf. thinning at cover edges).
