ORIGINAL EDITION, very rare, of this famous book A work inseparable from the life of Madame de La Vallière, which she wrote after a long illness, during her years of retirement at the Carmelite convent. After 7 years as mistress to King Louis XIV, she withdrew from the court to enter the convent. Nothing would make her give up, and she spent the last 36 years of her life in this retreat, where, late in life, she wrote this work in an effort to make amends for the mistakes of her past life. A fine copy, finely bound by Capé in the mid-nineteenth century.
