In-24, white calf entirely decorated with raspberry and green calf patches, small gilt irons and semis, the non ecru parts being occupied by rectangles in red line, the middles occupied by two medallions each bearing a miniature in a triple frame. Inside, under mica, a filigree border of extremely fine white stippled motifs and semis, ornamented spine and red mosaic, mirror embedded in the inter. and bordered with gold thread embroidery, light blue tabis double. and endpapers, tr. gilt, multicolored flower card case (Rel. anc.). EXTRAORDINARY BINDING, REMARKABLE FOR THE FINE MINIATURES OF A SMALL FORMAT and for the vivid colors of the decorations, which stand out particularly well on the white calf. The first miniature depicts a couple of fishermen in a boat in a harbor with a mountainous background, while the second depicts a rock in the middle of the sea with a snake and the handwritten words "Il est tranquille dans l'orage" (He is calm in the storm) in red ink.
