Partly first edition and FIRST EDITION of Steinlen's many remarkable illustrations, both inside and outside the text. ONE OF 100 EXEMPLIES ON ARCHES (without No.), with dedication to Clément-Janin and excerpt from a handwritten poem on the title page. Joint: Original drawings for "Les Soliloques du Pauvre" by Jehan Rictus. In-4, half morocco nègre head, corners, gilt head, n. r. (Cretté).
PRECIOUS COLLECTION of 17 very fine original drawings by Steinlen, most of them signed or monogrammed, in in-4 format (except for 3 smaller ones), all of which were reproduced (except for two that remained unpublished), much reduced, in the illustrated edition published in 1903 by Sevin et Rey. Attached to the collection is a handsome, stamped pencil self-portrait of Steinlen, with a pencil sketch on the reverse, as well as the book's prospectus and an invitation to the drawings' exhibition.
