In japon paper-filled cover, black and green marbled paper-covered cardboard chemise, with printed and glued label, black cloth spine, (Publisher's Cart.). Limited edition of 250 numbered copies, in sheets, 32 stencils after Picasso, including 31 in color (265 x 192 mm, except for one measuring approx. 265 x 260 mm), with the publisher's dry stamp. ONE OF 50 HEAD PRINTS (NO. 32) ACCOMPANIED WITH AN ORIGINAL INEDITED EAU-FORTE BY PICASSO and a black state proof of each plate. Complete suite of costume and set sketches by Picasso. In 1919, as part of his long-standing project to stage a Spanish ballet, Serge de Diaghilev (1872-1929) commissioned Pablo Picasso to design the sets. The artist travelled to London in May, where for three months he produced studies and sketches for the sets, costumes and even the curtain to be used in the performances. The ballet premiered in London on July 22, 1919. Picasso's final sketches were those reproduced in this portfolio, published the following year by his gallery owner Paul Rosenberg.
