George Grosz, a German-born draftsman and painter, rejected German nationalism. His work expresses his hatred of the clergy, the bourgeoisie and militarism. His work was influenced by Art Nouveau, Italian Futurism, Dadaism and Expressionism, which is very present in this collection. This album, a violent satire of German society between the wars, for which he appeared in court, was seized by the Reich authorities and has become very rare.
A very fine copy, bearing on the title and covering this one, an autograph dedication in ink, signed by the artist "To Dunoyer de Segonzac... in admiration..." with sketches, one of which depicts the Eiffel Tower. - Postcard signed by Grosz and addressed to the same addressee.
