Large in-8, contemporary binding in red half-chagrin, spine ribbed with gilt gilt fillet and cold listel, edges jasp. First edition. Steel-engraved frontispiece by Burdet and 80 wood-engraved hors texte compositions, all after Raffet; numerous vignettes in the text. A fine and very rare copy preserved in an attractive romantic binding.
