LAMI (Eug.) and Henry MONNIER. Journey to England. Paris: Firmin Didot, London: Colnaghi and son, 1829-30. Large folio (425 x 300 mm.). 4 in-fol. books, bound in one volume, pink half calf, corners, 5-ribbed spine decorated with mosaics, gilt head, n. r., cons. covers, 4 leaves of explanatory text. (Martin rel.). FIRST ISSUE: Complete suite of 24 lithographs colored at the time. The work was to comprise 12 to 15 issues of six plates each, but only four were published in all. The plates depict scenes of popular life and the complications of a carriage ride. Added 4 rare supplementary plates: Club des Fermiers No. 6 - Crescent Park No. 27 - Un Salon No. 28 - Un Trottoir dans la Cité No. 29. Also included is an important original wash drawing by Henry Monnier executed for one of the lithographs in the book: Rentrée des Watchmen, as well as two fragments of autographed letters, each enriched with a lovely, fresh, monogrammed original watercolor.
