ORIGINAL EDITION of this important work by Flaubert. - ONE OF 55 EXEMPLIES ON HOLLAND PAPER, the only large paper after 10 ex. on chine, in a fine contemporary full binding which, although unsigned, was executed by Carayon for the Versailles bibliophile Baron Regnault. Attached is an interesting L. A. S. (one 1/2 page in-8) from Flaubert, giving curious information about his way of dressing. He immediately desires a beautiful scarf, a white bathrobe with the same braids as his ordinary robes, the sleeves falling to the knees, summer bedroom pants with a very wide drawstring...
