Paris, Dubochet et Cie, 1836-1837. 2 volumes, gr. in-8, full period binding in blue glazed calf, large cold-engraved cathedral plaque framed by three gold fillets and small initials (F. M.) in center, smooth spine richly decorated with floral and cold-engraved caissons, inner dent, gilt edges, (Simier, rel. du Roi).
FIRST ISSUE: ornate faux-titres, 2 frontispieces printed on chine volant, including the portrait of Don Quixote (here with moustache), two ornate faux-titres and some 800 wood-engraved vignettes in the text after Tony Johannot.
SUPERB cathedral ROMANTIC BINDING signed by de Simier (Rouss. to qq. ff.).
