REGNAUT (Anthoine), bourgeois of Paris. Discours du Voyage d - Lot 37
REGNAUT (Anthoine), bourgeois of Paris. Discours du Voyage d'Outre mer au Saint Sepulcre de Jerusalem, et autres lieux de la Terre Saincte. A Lyon, aux dépens de l'autheur, 1573. In-4, 4 ff. (including title), 266 pp, 6 ff. of table and 1 blank ff. in ivory vellum with covers, jasper tr. (Rel. anc.). FIRST EDITION of this beautiful volume, decorated with 4 folded maps and 92 woodcut figures in various styles, many by Petit Bernard (Baudrier, IX, p. 344; cat. Rothschild, 2636). VERY PRETTY EXAMPLE, in its first ivory vellum binding, with a lovely patina, bearing the bookplate and library stamp of Le Tellier de Courtanvaux. It does not include the suppt of 26 ff. of ordinances which was published separately in Paris and added to only a few copies. The Rothschild and Baudrier cat. lists only 3 folding maps, the fourth is only mentioned by Brun, who adds: "these plates are rarely all together". From the library of Mme Daulnoy (I, No. 190).
