FIRST EDITION OF ONE OF THE FINEST BOTANICAL BOOKS OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY. Complete with 48 botanical plates, flowers and fruits engraved in dotted colors and enhanced at the time by the pioneering engraver in this field: Louis Charles Ruotte. The author of this collection is Jean-Louis PREVOST PERE (1745-1827). Antoine-Nicolas Duchesne (1747-1827), former Provost of the King's Buildings, who helped create Louis XV's botanical garden at Trianon, wrote the historical and botanical explanations associated with the plates. The plates in this sumptuous Collection were also used as references
