ALMANACH ROYAL. Year M.D.CC.LVIII. Paris, Le Breton, 1758. In-8, red morocco, ribbed spine decorated with gilt and fleur-de-lys, large Dubuisson plate on covers, coat of arms in center, gilt edges (contemporary binding).
Superb almanac decorated with Dubuisson's large plate, perfectly preserved and WITH THE ARMS OF JEAN DE BOULLONGNE (1690-1769), appointed Controller General of Finances on August 25, 1757, he fell into disgrace in March 1759. Jean de Boullongne, a friend of the Marquise de Pompadour, was also an honorary amateur member of the Académie royale de Peinture and a distinguished bibliophile, belonging to an illustrious family of financiers, artists and collectors. "Most of his books, stamped with his coat of arms, are highly sought-after today...", says Guignard (Armorial du bibliophile, t.2, part 2, p. 80).
