VALLOTTON. - (VARIOUS AUTHORS). Parisian Badauderies. The Gatherings. Prologue by Octave Uzanne. In Paris, Les Bibliophiles Indépendants, 1896. In-4, bradel half hazelnut morocco with corners, smooth spine decorated with a mosaic representing a city sergeant, gilt head, n.r., double cover (Ch. Meunier rel.). FIRST EDITION. Edition of 220 copies on vellum, numbered at the press. 30 woodcuts printed on Japon and two compositions. First illustrations engraved by F. Vallotton. Published by Octave Uzanne for the young Société des Bibliophiles Indépendants, he presents his work as the first attempt at a luxury edition, with the help of writers of the last hour. The texts collected are by authors often linked to La Revue blanche: Paul Adam, Tristan Bernard, Léon Blum, Romain Coolus, Félix Fénéon, Gustave Kahn, Jules Renard... The first book in which Félix Vallotton's name appears as an engraver. The most beautiful contribution of the Swiss painter-engraver to the illustrated book. François Courboin completes the illustration with 120 vignettes distributed throughout the text. BEAUTIFUL DECORATED HALF-BINDING BY CHARLES MEUNIER.
