SACRE and coronation of Louis XVI, king of France and Navarre, at Rheims, June 11, 1775, preceded by Recherches sur le sacre des Rois de France depuis Clovis jusqu'à Louis XV, and followed by a Journal historique de ce qui s'est passé à cette auguste cérémonie (by Abbé Pichon et Gobet). Enriched with a very large number of figures in intaglio, vignettes and fleurons engraved by the sieur Patas, with their explanations. In Paris, by Vente, 1775. In-4 red morocco, spine decorated with fleurs de lys and title-piece, arms in the centre of the boards, thread and fleurs de lys in the corners, gilt tr. (Early binding). Very beautiful book, decorated with an engraved title, a frontispiece, 9 plates of views of the coronation ceremonies, 39 plates of costumes engraved by Patas, a large plan of Reims, a plate of coats of arms and 14 vignettes. A VERY FINE COPY, WITH THE ARMS OF LOUIS XVI, ON LARGE HOLLANDE PAPER, SIZE IN-4. "In these copies the proofs are much superior to the in-8 and the figures have frames..." (Cohen, 785).
