The Triumphant Entry of their Majesties Louis XIV, King of France and Navarre, and Marie-Thérèse of Austria his Spouse in the city of Paris, on the return of the signature of the General Peace and their happy marriage. Enriched with several Figures, Harangues and various Pieces considerable for the History. Le tout exactement recueilly par l'ordre de Messieurs de Ville (par Jean Tronçon, avocat). Paris, Le Petit, 1662. In-folio, ivory vellum, gilt motif in centre of boards, gilt framing thread with corner motif, gilt tr. (Contemporary binding). FIRST ISSUE of this very beautiful book. Frontispiece by Chauveau, engraved dedication with a rich portrait of Louis XIV and 22 pl. (5 pl. have been assembled) by Jean Marot, Flamen and Lepautre. Among these plates, let us quote the Review of the militia of Paris, in front of the wood of Vincennes by Flamen; the Door Saint-Antoine, the Bridge Notre Dame, the Place Dauphine, the Obelisk of the Place Dauphine, the frontage of the Town hall and 5 plates which follow one another (those assembled here) and representing the procession. The representation of this cavalcade offers the greatest interest from the point of view of customs, costume and history. The plates have been attributed to N. Cochin, of Troyes. A copy preserved in its very attractive ivory vellum binding of the time, in perfect condition
