Henri DUPARC. MANUSCRIT MUSICAL autograph... - Lot 48 - Ferri & Associés
Henri DUPARC. MANUSCRIT MUSICAL autograph signed, Sonate pour Piano et Violoncelle, [1867-1869?] ; 25 pages in-fol. Complete manuscript of Duparc's only chamber music work. The manuscript, in brown ink on single or double sheets of Lard-Esnault paper with 5 systems of 3 staves, is signed at the end of the initials "HD. "and has a few erasures and corrections. 3 leaves have been numbered by Duparc (the complete pagination is late, from 1 to 26, including the blank p. 16). At the head, he bears this dedication: "to my dear brother / affectionate memory / H."; it is his elder brother Arthur Fouques-Duparc (1842-1915). Duparc had declared that he had destroyed this sonata (perhaps he was thinking of the manuscript of a reworked version that had been put in the net), which was premiered on June 3, 1948 at the Versailles Library for the centenary of the composer's birth, by Pierre Fournier and Jean Hubeau. It has since been published (Coda France, then Delatour 2016), and recorded (Robin Clavreul, Boris Nedltchev, 1987; Raphaël Chrétien, Maciej Pikulski, 2001; Alain Meunier, Anne Le Bozec, 2009). This sonata, in A minor, is in three movements: Introduction, then Presto appassionato (p. 1-14); [Lento] (p. 15); Final, marked Andante furioso (p. 17-26).
