Lavall. spine and boards decorated with cold and gilt thread or green mosaic, lining and endpapers in green maroq. gilt on witnesses, cover and spine on board, case with maroq. spine and edge. (P.-L. Martin). ISSUE AT 170 COPIES (numbered Lana paper). Very fine edition, illustrated by Jean Frélaut with 49 original etchings, outside and in the text. ISSUE WITH 1) : 8 very beautiful drawings or watercolours, in the format of the book, all signed and numbered by the artist. 2) : 19 state proofs, signed and annotated, of which 7 with original sketches in the margins. 3) : 21 unpublished etchings, all signed and numbered (out of 25). An important file dedicated to the elaboration of the work is enclosed: 83 letters (1941-1946) of which 8 with sketches (pencil or watercolor), 18 engravings and various documents. Important correspondence with Raymond Cornu, friend of the artist, who was actively involved in the publication of this book and precious testimony on this period of the war in Vannes where we learn that Frélaut had hosted for some time the personal collection of D. de Segonzac after the German invasion.
