ROEHN (Ad.). New shouts of Paris, drawn from nature and executed according to the lithographic processes of G. Engelmann by Roehn. P., Nepveu et Engelmann, 1817. In-4, in ff. with buff lithogr. cover serving as title. A COMPLETE AND RARE series of 10 incunabula lithographs, numbered I to X and coloured at the time: Tin Spoon Makers - Rabbit Skin Merchant - Rag and Old Hat Merchant - Basket Merchant - Herbal Tea Merchant - Cherry Merchant - Water Carrier - Broom Merchant - Scissors Ironer - Swiss Vulneraire Merchant. Lipperheide, 1183 - Colas, 2568, describes this suite after Lipperheide but does not cite any other examples in public or private collections. Monod (La côte des estampes) knew of only 7 plates and does not cite any copies in public sales or on cat. A remarkably fresh copy, preserved in ff. at full margins, in its cover, as issued, to which a very nice original watercolour by Roehn : La Bouquetière has been attached.
