SCHWEIGHAEUSER : Département du Bas-Rhin, one engraved title, 180-[2] pages and 40 lithographs. First edition of this work, one of the most beautiful on Alsace, fruit of the collaboration of Marie Philippe Aimé de GOLBERY (1786-1854), historian native of Colmar, correspondent of the Institute and of numerous learned societies, member of the society of sciences of Strasbourg and of the hellenist and archaeologist Jean-Geoffroy SCHWEIGHAEUSER (1776-1844) of Strasbourg The work, published in 20 issues, is printed on fine vellum paper and illustrated with 80 lithographic plates, most of them after sketches by BICHEBOIS and CHAPUY. Two additional issues, of 4 plates each, were published in 1828 and 1829 by M. Golbéry: Antiquités romaines de Mandeure, du pays de Porentruy et de quelques contrées voisines ; Antiquités romaines des pays limitrophes du Haut-Rhin. A fine copy, bound in the 19th century.
